Budget airline easyJet’s new luxury holiday division is experiencing significant growth, with one extravagant trip priced at £100,000. The airline has introduced a branch catering to customers willing to forgo frills during their flight in exchange for splurging on high-end accommodations.
Garry Wilson, the head of easyJet Holidays, disclosed that the company is receiving numerous bookings at the high-end level on a weekly basis. While the average booking cost is around £3,000, significantly higher than the typical £800 for other holiday packages offered by the company, the most expensive booking so far amounted to £97,000 for a group of 13 individuals.
Launched in October of the previous year, EasyJet Holidays’ Luxury Collection is rapidly expanding, offering five-star vacations tailored for those seeking ultra-luxurious experiences. The collection features approximately 100 renowned hotels with a minimum 4.5 rating on both Google and TripAdvisor.
Customers opting for the luxury package benefit from a 26kg luggage allowance, dedicated bag drop service, fast-track security, quick boarding, and pre-selected seating to enhance their airport experience. Furthermore, unlike regular easyJet travelers who must arrange their own transportation upon arrival, luxury holiday customers are provided with premium private transfers directly to their hotel.
Although EasyJet Holidays only commenced operations in 2019, it has already amassed three million customers annually, claiming a 10% market share. Mr. Wilson emphasized the positive reception from customers towards the new luxury arm, highlighting that it provides excellent value in top-tier hotels.
Additionally, Mr. Wilson noted that the launch was a strategic move as customers often booked an easyJet flight and their accommodations separately. While the luxury offering is currently exclusive to UK customers, plans are in place to extend the service to Europe in the forthcoming year.
