The ‘Beckham Clause’ by On the Beach is designed for family holidays where a member withdraws abruptly due to disagreements, arguments, or emotional breakdowns. Under this policy, if a family member cancels before the trip, their portion of the hotel expenses will be reimbursed, preventing other group members from bearing the financial burden.
Named the ‘Family Fallout Refund,’ this perk aims to reassure travelers that their vacation won’t be affected by domestic turmoil. Zoe Harris, Chief Customer Officer at On the Beach, emphasized the importance of family holidays and acknowledged that disputes can disrupt plans. She explained that the ‘Beckham Clause’ ensures that even if a member exits due to a feud, the remaining group can proceed with their vacation undisturbed.
Family conflicts during holiday planning are not uncommon among regular travelers. This new benefit applies to family trips with five or more individuals, requiring claims to be submitted at least 60 days before departure. Additionally, On the Beach offers various complimentary perks for bookings made in 2026, including free lounge access, gadget insurance, weather protection, a £50 Amazon voucher, and Price Drop Protection, along with 1GB of free mobile data for all bookings.
In case a family member decides to withdraw due to a fallout, the lead booker will receive a refund for the accommodation costs. To claim this refund, the party must contact On the Beach via chat, disclose the family dispute, specify the departing member, and the refund will be processed accordingly. This offer is applicable to new and existing bookings departing on or before August 31, 2026, with cancellation requests required 60 days prior to departure. While hotel cancellation fees are waived, standard terms and conditions apply to other booking elements.
