Elon Musk Jokes About Trump’s “Board of Peace” at Davos

Elon Musk made light-hearted comments about Donald Trump’s newly established Board of Peace during his appearance at the Davos event today.

This marks a change of stance for Musk, who previously criticized the World Economic Forum gathering in Switzerland. At Davos, he engaged in a discussion with Laurence Fink, the CEO of BlackRock and interim co-chair of the forum.

Musk humorously suggested that Trump’s Board of Peace should perhaps be called “piece,” joking about acquiring small portions of Greenland and Venezuela. He teased, “We’re gonna make this interesting,” before taking a playful jab at the US President regarding the board’s name.

Trump recently launched the Board of Peace to oversee efforts in maintaining a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Despite Trump’s claims that the board could potentially rival the United Nations, several US allies opted not to participate due to skepticism surrounding its membership and purpose.

The United Kingdom has refrained from joining the Board of Peace, with the Foreign Secretary expressing concerns about possible Russian involvement in the initiative. Discussions are ongoing among UK allies regarding the supportive role they could play in the peace process in Gaza.

While Trump asserted that 59 countries had signed onto the board, only 19 countries alongside the US had representatives at the event. Despite this, Trump praised the attendees, referring to them as the “most powerful people in the world.”

Musk, who previously supported Trump during his presidential campaign, has had a public falling out with the president after serving in a government efficiency role. His appearance at Davos follows his social media posts criticizing the World Economic Forum in the past.

Currently, Musk is engaged in a public dispute with Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary over the installation of Starlink systems on Ryanair planes. O’Leary dismissed Musk’s suggestion that he would purchase the budget airline.
