A mother expressed outrage after her 13-year-old son was knocked off his e-bike by police in an unmarked car. The incident, captured on CCTV in Salford, showed Junior Moran being hit by the vehicle, causing him to fall onto the pavement.
Despite initially being detained, Junior pleaded his innocence before being released by the officers. His mother, Jayne, described him as left disoriented and traumatized by the ordeal. She filed a formal complaint against the police for the incident.
According to Greater Manchester Police, the e-bike Junior was riding was deemed illegal, leading to the decision for a tactical intervention by the officers. The force is conducting a thorough review of the incident, including the video footage.
Jayne recounted the distressing moments she spent with her son in the hospital, where he was treated for severe concussion. She criticized the lack of care shown to Junior, emphasizing his innocence and the fear he experienced during the encounter with the police.
Following the incident, the police seized Junior’s e-bike under road traffic laws and issued an apology to the family. The force stated that the use of tactical contact on the teenager is under review, and the driving officer involved has been suspended pending further investigation.
