“Sky’s Smart Home Plans Offer Affordable Security Alternatives”

Sky introduces new smart home plans in the UK, offering an alternative to popular security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. The plans include internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, presenting a cost-effective option that Sky claims could save consumers over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.

There are two plan options available. The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. This package features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk functionality, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional security features, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This bundle includes an indoor camera and extra app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the aim of making high-quality smart technology more accessible, stating, “Sky Smart Home is about making high-quality smart tech more accessible. We’ve taken the features customers value most and made them easy to use, simple to manage, and affordable, so staying connected to home feels effortless rather than complicated.”

These new plans mark Sky’s expansion into standalone home security services, complementing its existing Protect Smart Home Insurance offerings. In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
