“Virgin Media’s Tips for Better Internet Speeds Year-Round”

Virgin Media has released new advice to ensure optimal internet speeds throughout the year. The company recommends keeping the router in a central location, rebooting it monthly, and avoiding signal obstructions like fish tanks. Additionally, they highlight the impact of warmer weather on broadband performance.

As temperatures rise in late spring and summer, routers can experience strain, emphasizing the importance of placing them in cool, well-ventilated areas. Virgin Media explains that hot weather can stress broadband equipment both inside and outside the home. Routers require good airflow to function correctly, and excessive heat due to poor placement can lead to slower speeds, dropped connections, or automatic restarts.

To combat these issues, Virgin Media advises ensuring the router is in a cooler location during warm weather. They also stress that internal factors like thick walls, multiple connected devices, and poor router placement have more significant effects on daily connections than external weather conditions.

For optimal Wi-Fi performance, Virgin Media suggests placing the router in an open, central location away from direct sunlight and avoiding metal objects or furniture obstruction. After severe weather, it is essential to check cables for security and damage. Limiting the number of connected devices simultaneously can also reduce interference and improve connection stability.
