The Canadian hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” continues to ramp up its star-studded cast for the upcoming season. Following its successful debut, the show has attracted global attention, propelling the careers of lead actors Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud.
The latest additions to the cast announced recently include renowned figures such as Milla Jovovich, Kevin Zegers, and Paul Gross. Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in “Resident Evil” and “The Fifth Element,” joins the ensemble. Kevin Zegers, hailing from Woodstock, Ont., brings his experience from shows like “Gossip Girl” and films such as “Transamerica.” Meanwhile, Paul Gross, famous for his work in “Due South” and films like “Men With Brooms” and “Passchendaele,” enriches the lineup.
The series, inspired by Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” novels, delves into the clandestine romance between two competitive hockey players, Shane Hollander (Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Storrie). Notably, Paul Gross is set to portray hockey league commissioner Roger Crowell, with Kevin Zegers playing Coach Wiebe and Milla Jovovich taking on the role of Dr. Galina Molchalina.
Additionally, returning for the new season are Season 1 actors Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. The production has introduced more Canadian talent, including Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka.
Emily Hampshire, a star from “Schitt’s Creek,” expressed her excitement to be part of the show and praised the creator, Jacob Tierney. She highlighted the series’ widespread appeal, comparing it to the success of “Schitt’s Creek” at the Emmy Awards.
Although “Heated Rivalry” missed eligibility for the Primetime Emmys this year, it has garnered significant recognition at the Canadian Screen Awards. With shooting for the second season already underway, fans can anticipate the premiere on Crave in Spring 2027.
