Superdrug has announced its intention to launch 30 new stores in the current year, generating approximately 600 employment opportunities. The forthcoming locations across England will include White Rose Leeds, Crawley, Waterlooville Retail Park, Newport Retail Park, and Isle of Wight.
In addition, Superdrug is set to unveil new outlets in Scotland, such as Dundee Gallagher Retail Park, Kilmarnock Retail Park, East Kilbride, Strathkelvin Retail Park, and Linwood Phoenix Retail Park, along with Cwmbran Retail Park in Wales.
These stores will feature Superdrug Beauty Studios offering services like ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading. The company also intends to refurbish 60 stores throughout the year. Currently, Superdrug operates over 780 stores in the UK and Ireland.
Superdrug’s decision to expand further is driven by robust consumer demand. The company plans to focus on developing large-format destination stores and retail park locations. Clare Jennings, Superdrug’s property director, emphasized the importance of physical, experience-led retail and the commitment to creating inclusive beauty, healthcare, and affordable treatment hubs.
The investment will enable Superdrug to establish enhanced stores in various regions, providing increased access to healthcare, beauty products, and treatments while fostering job creation and career opportunities. Meanwhile, M&S has disclosed a list of 500 desired locations for new stores to bolster its food business, targeting larger sites to enhance its offerings.
