A well-known online beauty retailer is reportedly considering a potential sale as advisors have been brought in to conduct a business assessment. Founded in 1999 in Manchester by siblings Arron and David Gabbie, Beauty Bay offers over 200 brands on its platform, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, and MAC, alongside its own product line.
According to a recent report by Sky News, Beauty Bay is exploring various options to secure new funding, including the possibility of selling the business outright. Interpath, an advisory firm, is said to be collaborating with Beauty Bay on this endeavor.
Currently employing 65 individuals, Beauty Bay has been contacted by the Mirror for comment on the situation. This development follows the recent collapse of beauty brand Malin + Goetz into administration, resulting in the closure of its seven UK stores.
With locations in London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards, the closure of Malin + Goetz stores is expected to affect over 70 jobs. Online orders from Malin + Goetz have been temporarily halted, with a message on their website indicating a short hiatus for online purchases.
While Malin + Goetz’s website is expected to resume operations after a brief maintenance period, the exact timeline remains uncertain. The brand, established in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, initially offered six products catering to all skin types and has since expanded its product range to include fragrances, body care items, and other beauty products.
