Vodafone Introduces AI-Powered Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The rise in unwanted phone calls targeting smartphone users is a concerning issue, with the average UK consumer reportedly receiving eight such calls every month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this growing problem and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature known as Scam Call Protection. Utilizing artificial intelligence technology, this service can identify and flag suspicious calls, including potential scams, spam, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection analyzes all incoming calls to users’ phones. When a call is deemed suspicious, customers receive a straightforward on-screen alert warning them about a possible scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of staying vigilant against evolving scam tactics. He highlighted that Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and notifying users of known or suspected scam attempts.
This initiative is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already features advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring for identity theft prevention, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested individuals can try out Scam Call Protection for a complimentary three-month trial period, after which the service is available for £2 per month.
