“Tragic Car Crash in Canberra Shopping Center Claims Life of Four-Year-Old”

A tragic incident occurred at a bustling shopping center in Canberra, Australia, where a car crashed into a store, leading to the death of a four-year-old boy. The accident took place around 10:20 am local time on Sunday, January 18 at the BWS store within the Southlands Shopping Centre in Mawson. Upon receiving reports of the vehicle veering off the road and colliding with the store, emergency services promptly arrived at the scene.

Medical teams attended to the young boy at the site, but due to his critical condition, he was swiftly taken to the hospital for further care. Despite all efforts made, the boy, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Authorities from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) confirmed that the boy became the second road fatality in 2026 in the region following the tragic accident at the shopping center. The driver of the car involved in the collision was also hospitalized for evaluation. The ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with a report to be submitted to the Coroner.
