A cutting-edge £30 billion city is currently under construction in Saudi Arabia, known as Qiddiya, set to be three times larger than Paris and boasting its very own racetrack. The ambitious project is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, aiming to diversify the economy by incorporating tourism and entertainment sectors.
Qiddiya, situated on desert terrain, is designed to offer its future residents vast opportunities within its expansive 360 square kilometers area. The city will comprise 20 distinct neighborhoods to accommodate approximately 500,000 inhabitants, equipped with all modern city amenities.
Dubbed as “The City of the Future,” Qiddiya will house a Formula 1 circuit, a stadium earmarked for the 2034 World Cup, and man-made beaches. The city’s 2024 ESG Report emphasizes sustainability as a core objective despite emissions during construction.
Chief Strategy Officer Muhannad Aldawood expressed the city’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social impact, and economic resilience through the ESG Report. Notably, sections of the city have already opened, such as the hosting area for the Dakar Rally and the Six Flags theme park, featuring the Falcon’s Flight rollercoaster, the world’s longest, tallest, and fastest rollercoaster.
Six Flags CEO John Reilly announced the opening of Six Flags Qiddiya City, highlighting its innovative attractions and entertainment experiences that will revolutionize the region’s entertainment landscape.
