Prince Harry and Meghan were the subjects of ridicule on the Season 2 premiere of Saturday Night Live UK as they portrayed a chilly welcome upon their return to the UK. The comedic sketch took jabs at the couple’s Netflix deal, Meghan’s television and business ventures, and the ongoing controversies surrounding race within the Royal Family.
The skit opened with Harry and Meghan, played by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, visiting King Charles and Queen Camilla, portrayed by Larry Dean and Emma Sidi, at a fictional version of Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The satirical scene depicted Charles questioning the couple’s financial decisions post-Megxit, including teasing about their Netflix earnings.
Mocking the couple’s Netflix deal, the sketch highlighted their productions such as the docuseries Harry & Meghan and Meghan’s lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. The fictional Meghan’s attempt to position herself as a lifestyle guru was humorously referenced in the skit.
The skit also alluded to the controversial Oprah interview where the alleged comments about Prince Archie’s skin color were discussed. The segment transitioned into a spoof featuring Britain’s new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, played by George Fouracres, focusing on Burnham’s desire to be seen as a “regular guy.”
Prince Harry and Meghan, along with their children, recently returned to the UK from the US, where they are expected to live privately outside London. The reason for their relocation remains undisclosed, with their children reportedly starting classes in British schools this month.
