Orphaned by Tragedy: Spanish Train Collision Kills Family

A tragic train collision in Spain has left a six-year-old girl orphaned, as four members of her family lost their lives in the accident. The incident occurred near Adamuz in Spain’s Córdoba province, where a northbound train from Málaga to Madrid’s Atocha station collided with a southbound train from Madrid to Huelva, resulting in the deaths of at least 39 people.

Among the casualties were the parents of the young girl, who were returning from watching the Lion King musical in Madrid. Family and friends had been searching for the missing parents, brother, and cousin, fearing they were victims of the crash. Sadly, it was confirmed by the mayor of Punta Umbria that the girl’s brother, parents, and cousin had all perished in the tragedy.

The deceased couple was identified as Jose Zamorano and Cristina Alvarez, with their 12-year-old son named Pepe Zamorano and the cousin identified as Felix Zamorano. The orphaned girl, who miraculously survived with minor injuries, is now under the care of her grandmother in Cordoba after receiving medical attention.

In a statement, Mayor Hernandez Casino expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the Zamorano Alvarez family and declared three days of official mourning. The community remains hopeful for the safe return of the two missing residents from Punta Umbria and continues to support search efforts.

The town hall also extended condolences to the affected families, with friends and acquaintances expressing their grief over the tragic event. The search continues for other missing individuals, including journalist Oscar Toro and his wife Maria Clauss, who were also victims of the train crash.
