Politician Robert Jenrick, who recently switched allegiance to Reform UK, has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Liz Truss, calling for her expulsion from the Conservative Party. Jenrick revealed that he had urged Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch multiple times to remove Truss from the party, emphasizing that the party’s failure to do so indicated a lack of change.
In a recent opinion piece, Jenrick lambasted Truss for her post-office media activities, describing them as unrepentant and self-aggrandizing. He questioned why Truss had not been ousted, attributing it to her political connections within the party. Jenrick expressed concern over the party’s reluctance to confront such issues and questioned its ability to tackle entrenched interests hindering necessary reforms.
Speaking on Sky News, Jenrick criticized Truss’s handling of a recent policy, labeling it as careless and harmful to individuals’ financial stability. Truss, who served as PM for only 49 days, retaliated by questioning Jenrick’s motives after his move to Reform UK.
Additionally, Jenrick hinted at a potential defection of a well-known former Labour MP to Reform UK, following Nigel Farage’s recent tease of such a move. He highlighted that individuals from various political backgrounds were joining the party, signaling a shift in allegiances.
The political landscape witnessed another defection as Tory MP Andrew Rosindell joined Reform UK, prompting a response from Labour party chair Anna Turley. Turley criticized the Tories’ track record and accused Reform UK of attempting to revive their failed policies, cautioning the public against being misled by the parties’ actions.
