Prince Harry recently drew attention to Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis amidst his ongoing rift with the royal family. This action was likely to have upset his brother, Prince William, as per insights shared by a royal expert.
In various instances, Harry has highlighted his role as the ‘spare’ in comparison to his sibling. This theme is reflected in the title of his upcoming memoir. He has openly discussed the challenges associated with this position, expressing concerns for Charlotte and Louis, who he views as ‘spares’ to their elder brother, Prince George.
During a recent interview with The Telegraph to promote his book, Harry expressed his unease, mentioning, “Though William and I have discussed this issue, he has made it clear that his children are not my responsibility. However, I still feel a sense of duty knowing that one of those three children will likely face a situation similar to mine, being the spare, and that troubles me.”
While Prince William has refrained from commenting on the situation with Harry, an expert cautioned that he may not have taken kindly to the remarks about his own children. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond highlighted that Harry harbors feelings of being a spare, but it is not necessary for William and Catherine’s children to feel the same way.
Bond emphasized the positive examples set by other royal family members who did not perceive themselves as spares. She noted that Charlotte and Louis will hold significant roles with privileges and platforms, suggesting that they need not feel like spares just because Harry had that experience.
Despite George being the designated heir to the throne, reports indicate that William and Kate treat all their children equally. They strive to maintain a normal family life, involving the children in household chores and providing a nurturing environment.
For William, ensuring a sense of normalcy for his children is paramount. While the royal duties await George, William prioritizes a typical upbringing for his children, surrounded by emotional support.
The tight-knit bond shared by George, Charlotte, and Louis is evident, hinting at a supportive dynamic among the siblings. It is expected that the younger siblings will continue to stand by their elder brother, both in their future royal roles and in private family settings.
