French Tennis Star Moutet Rebukes Collins’ Allegations

Corentin Moutet expressed strong displeasure following Danielle Collins’ public disclosure of their alleged failed flirtation. Collins, serving as a commentator at the Miami Open due to an injury, diverted her attention to a different topic recently.

The 32-year-old American, sidelined by injury, took on a new role as a pundit at the Miami event. While working for the Tennis Channel, she caused a bit of a stir by shining a light on French player Moutet over the weekend.

Moutet, ranked No. 33 globally, emerged victorious against Tomas Machac on Saturday. However, it was the interactions preceding the match that caught Collins’ notice. She openly discussed the incident in a revealing segment on the Tennis Channel.

During a conversation initiated by presenter Steve Weissman, Collins shared, “Yesterday, while Corentin Moutet was practicing for his match, he was calling out to me, asking for encouragement with phrases like ‘give me a come on, give me a let’s go’. I then responded by telling him that if he intended to flirt in that manner, he needed to work on improving his serve.”

When quizzed whether a big serve was a prerequisite for flirting with her, Collins humorously replied, “Yes, around here it seems so. It’s all in good fun though. He unfollowed me after my playful comment about not being interested in shorter individuals gained attention.”

“And last night, he messaged me, highlighting his match performance and powerful serves. Despite his victory, I don’t believe he stands a chance unless he brings more to the table,” added Collins.

Moutet, who stands at 5’11, should have been gearing up for a match against world No.1 Jannik Sinner. Despite this, he took the time to respond vehemently to Collins’ account of the incident on Sunday.

“How can I unfollow you when I never followed you,” he retorted. “@TennisChannel, how can you allow such false claims on TV? You were the one who followed me and approached me for mixed doubles. I never followed you in the first place.”

“You seem desperate for attention. Learn to value yourself so you don’t resort to such tactics to gain recognition,” Moutet continued.
