“EE Launches Enhanced Scam Guard Service for UK Customers”

EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the escalating threat of scams in the UK. The update, priced at £2 per month for all EE pay-monthly mobile subscribers, aims to provide increased protection against cybercriminals who employ various tactics to deceive individuals into revealing sensitive information.

Despite the additional cost, EE assures customers that the upgraded Scam Guard offers significantly improved security measures. Since its initial launch in 2024, the service has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts, with the new iteration expected to double this prevention rate over the next year.

The core of the enhanced Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, a combination of digital safety features driven by Norton’s Genie AI engine. This includes Safe Email, which proactively safeguards email inboxes around the clock, Safe SMS for real-time detection of sophisticated scams in text messages, and Safe Web to block malicious websites during online activities.

Moreover, the updated Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to seek instant advice by uploading screenshots of suspicious content. It also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring features to detect and alert users of any questionable online behavior promptly.

Malcolm Cubitt, EE’s Director of Product for Mobile, emphasized the necessity of strengthening cybersecurity measures in response to the escalating sophistication of fraudulent activities. He highlighted EE’s commitment to customer security through continuous innovation and strategic partnerships, culminating in the enhanced Scam Guard service offering comprehensive protection against evolving cyber threats.
