Sky Sports Host Overcomes Cervical Cancer Battle

Sky Sports host Jo Wilson recently shared her cancer battle, expressing her initial fear of death and the emotional turmoil she experienced following her cervical cancer diagnosis in June 2022. Despite the cancer spreading to her lymph nodes, Wilson successfully completed six weeks of treatment and received the all-clear in June 2023.

Having joined Sky Sports in 2011, Wilson underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy, which led to early menopause affecting her career. Her diagnosis came shortly after giving birth to her daughter in 2020, adding to the challenges she faced during her cancer journey.

In a Sky Sports News documentary titled “Football, Cancer, and Me,” Wilson disclosed her struggles and decision to keep her diagnosis private, emphasizing the importance of seeking medical help if needed. The documentary also features conversations with colleagues Emma Saunders and former manager Tony Mowbray, both sharing their own battles against cancer.

Saunders underwent surgery for a brain infection following a thyroid cancer diagnosis, leaving her partner shocked by the visible scar. Mowbray, who revealed his bowel cancer diagnosis last year, reflected on the challenges of managing his health while leading a football team.

Sky Sports has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now offering HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu along with comprehensive coverage of the Premier League and EFL. With over 1,400 live matches broadcasted, including Premier League, EFL, Formula 1, darts, and golf, Sky continues to provide extensive sports entertainment for fans.
