“Nightclub Security Charged in Winnipeg Basketball Player Assault”

Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing charges of assault following a serious injury to a Winnipeg Sea Bears player earlier this month, as per the police. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub during the early hours of August 3, according to the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The security individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, the police disclosed in a news release on Thursday. They have all been released on undertakings. The police did not disclose the nightclub’s name but confirmed it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical evaluations, received a prognosis, and is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a team-released written communication on Thursday. In response to the assault, Allen expressed that it was an unacceptable incident that should not have occurred to him or anyone else. He further stated, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.” Individuals possessing any information related to the incident, including dashcam footage, security recordings, or cellphone videos taken around the time of the assault, are urged to contact the Winnipeg police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online at the Crime Stoppers website. CBC News has attempted to reach out to the Sea Bears for their response.
