“Amazon Shoppers Warned: Beware of Scammers Targeting Personal Info”

Shopping on Amazon requires extra caution as scammers target the online retail giant to steal personal and financial information. Amazon recently alerted customers to be wary of fraudulent emails, calls, and messages pretending to be from the company, especially during peak shopping periods.

The company emphasized the importance of staying vigilant during major shopping events, as cybercriminals exploit various communication channels to impersonate trusted brands. As the summer holiday season approaches, phishing attacks on Amazon customers are on the rise, with reports of a surge in fraudulent emails.

A new scam tactic involves sending emails notifying recipients of “unusual activity” on their Amazon accounts, prompting them to click a link to restore access. Despite the convincing appearance of these emails, clicking the link redirects users to a fake login page aimed at stealing login credentials and sensitive data.

Amazon reiterated that it never requests sensitive information outside its official platforms. Customers are advised to verify messages by directly contacting Amazon Customer Service rather than relying on contact details provided in suspicious communications. To confirm the legitimacy of notifications, customers should check their Amazon account’s “Your Orders” section on the official website or app.

In case of unexpected communications claiming to be from Amazon, recipients should refrain from clicking links, downloading attachments, or sharing personal details until verifying the authenticity. Additionally, customers can report suspicious messages using Amazon’s self-service reporting tool.
