Conor McGregor has expressed approval for the upcoming UFC event at the White House, even though he is not scheduled to compete in it.
Initially expected to headline a fight on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now anticipated to make his return to the octagon the following month. UFC CEO Dana White revealed the White House card last Saturday, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event.
Alex Pereira is set to step up to the heavyweight division to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. Despite not being part of the fight card, McGregor shared his enthusiasm by posting a photo of the event on social media with the caption “love it,” later describing it as “a great card.”
In an interview, McGregor disclosed that he had been looking forward to the White House event and was prepared to face Chandler. However, plans shifted, and he is now eyeing a potential return during International Fight Week. McGregor also hinted at a comeback in the welterweight division, expressing eagerness to get back into the octagon.
