“Witness Recalls Wife’s Tragic Death in Police Pursuit”

A heartbroken husband has recounted the chilling screams he heard when his beloved wife was struck by a reckless builder fleeing from the police.

Clint Harrison vividly remembers the horrific sound his wife, Suzanne Cherry, made as she was hit by a van driven by John McDonald during a police pursuit at Aston Wood Golf Club in Sutton, England. The tragic incident occurred on April 11 last year, resulting in Suzanne’s death four days later, just before her 63rd birthday.

McDonald, 52, recently admitted in Worcester Crown Court to causing death by dangerous driving and was handed a 13-year, six-month prison sentence. His son, Johnny McDonald, 23, and accomplice Brett Delaney, 35, who were passengers in the van, received prison terms of 32 and 28 months, respectively, for their involvement in a linked fraud scheme.

Following UK sentencing guidelines, John McDonald could be released after serving two-thirds of his sentence, potentially in about eight years. Clint Harrison expressed the lasting trauma of witnessing his wife’s tragic death, lamenting the shattered moments of that fateful day and the haunting memory of her final scream.

Suzanne’s brother, Adrian Cherry, a retired fire officer, stated that McDonald deserves a lifelong prison sentence for his actions. The court proceedings also revealed police dashcam footage detailing the harrowing chase that included reckless driving maneuvers endangering multiple lives.

Despite the legal proceedings, Clint Harrison continues to grapple with the deep loss, emphasizing the injustice of his wife’s untimely death caused by criminals prioritizing their escape over human life. The tragic incident has left a profound impact on the family and the community, with ongoing efforts to seek justice and hold those responsible accountable.
