Beauty brand Malin + Goetz has gone into administration, leading to the closure of its seven stores across the UK. The affected locations include London branches in Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards, impacting over 70 jobs.
Online orders from Malin + Goetz have been temporarily suspended, with a message on their website indicating a pause in accepting orders. However, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.
A spokesperson for Malin + Goetz explained the decision to enter administration, stating that after an extensive business review and exploration of alternatives, closing the UK stores and head office was deemed necessary. The spokesperson acknowledged the impact on employees and customers, expressing regret over the unavoidable job losses.
The company’s website is expected to be back online following a brief maintenance period, although the duration remains uncertain. Founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered six products catering to all skin types before expanding into fragrance, body care, and other beauty lines.
