Elliot Page Struggles with Lack of Casting Offers

Following Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey, Elliot Page received acclaim for his standout performance in the film. However, despite this success, the Canadian actor revealed that he has not been receiving any casting offers since the movie’s release.

Page disclosed this information during an episode of the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast. When asked about his upcoming projects, Page responded to host Kevin McCarthy’s assumption that he would be inundated with offers by stating, “No, Kevin, I’m not.”

Renowned for his portrayal of the Greek soldier Sinon in The Odyssey, Page faced criticism related to his Canadian identity and previous transphobic controversies surrounding his potential casting as Achilles.

Notable figures like Ben Shapiro, Megyn Kelly, and Elon Musk sparked controversy on social media over the casting speculation, which was later debunked. Page has been vocal about his support for the LGBTQ+ community and has actively opposed anti-trans rhetoric and legislation.

Page, known for his roles in Juno, Inception, and Hard Candy, publicly came out as transgender in 2020. He remains committed to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and has condemned discriminatory policies targeting gender-diverse individuals.

The actor expressed enthusiasm for future roles in the podcast, citing newfound confidence in his acting abilities post-transition. Page emphasized his eagerness to explore diverse characters and deliver compelling performances.

Reflecting on his career journey, Page highlighted the personal growth and fulfillment he experienced during his recent projects. He contrasted his comfort level in his current roles with previous experiences that caused internal discomfort despite professional success.

Page’s experience of post-film popularity contrasts with Samantha Morton’s account, who portrayed Circe in The Odyssey and also faced challenges in securing new acting opportunities following the movie’s release.

Despite the industry’s dynamics, Page remains optimistic about his future endeavors and is determined to deliver his best work in the upcoming projects.
