Online retail platform SilkFred has gone into administration, impacting its network of 500 partner fashion brands. The company, known for collaborating with labels like Apricot, Goddiva, and Pretty Lavish, made the announcement through a statement on Instagram.
SilkFred officially entered administration in late November and has appointed Quantuma, a financial advisory firm, to oversee the process. Quantuma has stated that no new orders will be fulfilled and aims to reimburse customers whose orders have not yet been shipped.
Unfortunately, if refunds cannot be processed by SilkFred, there may be limited options for reimbursement. Customers awaiting orders are advised to contact their credit or debit card providers to explore refund possibilities.
For transactions exceeding £100 but less than £30,000 made with a credit card, consumers can utilize Section 75 protection. Alternatively, those who paid via debit card may be eligible for refunds through Chargeback mechanisms.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram, SilkFred expressed sadness over the situation, attributing the company’s struggles to the challenging consumer environment and fierce competition from global fast fashion brands. Despite the setback, SilkFred acknowledged its role in empowering women to find confidence-boosting outfits and supporting independent designers.
Established in 2011 by Emma Watkinson, Stephen Jackson, and Kate Jackson, SilkFred thanked its supporters, brand partners, and dedicated team for their contributions to the brand’s journey. Watkinson recognized the growth and success of partnering designers and the significant impact SilkFred had on job creation and business opportunities within the fashion industry.
