A popular chain of pharmacies on the high street has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competing company facing financial difficulties. Allied Pharmacies has taken over the management of 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, most of which are currently closed. However, Allied has assured the public that it is dedicated to reinstating crucial pharmacy services at these sites.
This acquisition increases Allied’s presence to approximately 210 branches in England and Wales. The company has emphasized its commitment to resuming pharmaceutical services promptly to support public health and well-being, especially for vulnerable individuals reliant on local healthcare services.
Earlier reports revealed that Jhoots Pharmacies were experiencing closures, potentially leaving communities without access to essential health services. Allegations of unpaid staff wages and financial struggles were also raised. The pharmacies are jointly owned by brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with approximately 150 Jhoots Pharmacies scattered across the UK.
Manjit Jhooty, who owns more than 20 branches, has defended the financial stability and functionality of his businesses. On the other hand, Sarbjit Jhooty acknowledged workforce challenges and affirmed efforts to address them. Both brothers have responded to media inquiries regarding the situation.
