Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The affected vehicles, manufactured between 2019 and 2026, may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis is aware of one injury associated with the recall, no fatalities have been reported.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and around 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for inspection scheduling. Dealers will examine the second-row seat belt buckle anchors and ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body structure if necessary.
