“Gordie Howe Bridge Sees Busy Start with 18,900 Return Trips”

Statistics Canada reported that tens of thousands of drivers entered Canada via the Gordie Howe International Bridge in the initial days following its opening. The highly anticipated bridge linking Windsor and Detroit commenced operations on July 27, following a series of delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents from the United States through the Gordie Howe bridge in the first five operational days. Concurrently, 18,100 U.S. residents crossed the bridge into Canada during the same timeframe. In comparison, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel collectively recorded 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents during this period. Furthermore, Statistics Canada noted that 4,100 commercial trucks entered Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge in the final five days of July.
