A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in the hospital, although his lungs have sustained significant damage. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after diving underwater. Maria Warren, his mother, mentioned that beach visitors quickly stepped in to assist, pulling him out of the water shortly after he went missing.
According to a statement from the RCMP, the boy was trapped against fallen deadwood by the river’s strong current before being rescued and administered CPR on the shore. Authorities suspect that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. The child is now receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family staying close to him during his recovery.
Maria expressed her constant presence by his side, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
