“I Am Maximus Leads 34-Horse Field for 2026 Randox Grand National”

The participants for the 2026 Randox Grand National at Aintree have been confirmed. A full list of 34 horses, the maximum allowed, is now set for the £1 million prestigious event scheduled for Saturday. The race will be aired live by ITV.

Leading the pack is I Am Maximus, owned by JP McManus and trained by Willie Mullins, the victor of the 2024 edition and runner-up last year. He is up against stablemate Nick Rockett, who secured a notable Mullins 1-2-3 finish, with Grangeclare West taking the third position. Mullins aims to match the record of the most successful trainers in the Grand National’s history by claiming a fourth win alongside Red Rum’s Ginger McCain and Fred Rimell.

Paul Townend is expected to stick with I Am Maximus, while amateur jockey Patrick Mullins continues his partnership with Nick Rockett. Notable contenders like Grangeclare West, Panic Attack trained by Dan Skelton, and last year’s fourth-place finishers Iroko and Jagwar, both owned by McManus and trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, are also in the lineup.

Willie Mullins, who initially had nine horses in contention, has declared all of them. An unexpected entry is Spillane’s Tower, also set to compete in the Bowl at Aintree on Thursday.

The much-anticipated event is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The 48-page guide to the 2026 Randox Grand National is available for those seeking in-depth insights and information on the iconic steeplechase.
