Oliver Bearman encountered significant discomfort after a high-speed collision at the Japanese Grand Prix. The British racer urgently sought help from track marshals after his Formula 1 car spun out of control and hit a barrier.
Witnesses saw two marshals assisting Bearman to walk after he was removed from the Haas car, visibly in pain. He limped and collapsed behind the barrier, holding his right lower leg and ankle, prompting the medical team to be called for assistance.
Bearman was swiftly taken to the circuit’s medical center for further evaluation. A Haas representative later confirmed that X-rays showed no fractures, only a bruise on his right knee.
The incident caused a delay in the Grand Prix to clear the damaged Haas car and repair the barrier. The race resumed with Kimi Antonelli leading on lap 28, benefiting from the safety car timing. Antonelli maintained his lead, with Oscar Piastri in second place behind him.
Lewis Hamilton’s aggressive driving saw him overtake George Russell and challenge Antonelli, while Russell faced issues with his car’s deployment, losing positions to Charles Leclerc.
Max Verstappen and Lando Norris struggled to advance in the race, encountering difficulties with their positions on the track. Piastri held onto second place despite losing ground to Antonelli, who maintained a comfortable lead.
Verstappen faced challenges overtaking Gasly’s Alpine with his Red Bull car. The race continued with intense competition among the drivers for podium positions.
