“Nigel Farage Fails to Timely Register Interests 17 Times”

Nigel Farage has violated the MPs’ code of conduct by failing to timely register financial interests 17 times. The Reform leader, also known as “Nine Jobs Nigel,” has faced previous criticism for engaging in lucrative side activities beyond his MP salary.

In a recent report, Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg disclosed multiple instances where Farage’s financial interests were not registered within the required timeframe. Greenberg initiated a formal inquiry in October 2025 after a public complaint revealed the delays in Farage’s disclosures.

Greenberg highlighted seventeen breaches of the Code of Conduct’s Rule 5 regarding the late registration of interests. Farage admitted to the oversights, attributing them to administrative challenges. Despite the significant number of breaches, Greenberg opted for a rectification process rather than referral to the Committee on Standards due to the inadvertent nature of the failures.

In response, Farage acknowledged the errors, expressing regret and taking full responsibility. He emphasized the complexity of his varied interests, including roles as a TV presenter and private businessman, predating his MP tenure. Farage assured compliance with disclosure requirements and apologized for any confusion caused by the delayed registrations.

Despite initially claiming responsibility, Farage later shifted blame to a senior team member in a subsequent letter to Greenberg. He requested a private meeting to discuss the matter further, mentioning his income sources unrelated to his parliamentary duties.

Farage’s Register of Interests analysis unveiled substantial travel-related earnings from donors and authorities worldwide, including a recent trip to Abu Dhabi for a race. His financial disclosures showed significant earnings from secondary roles post-general election, notably from presenting on GB News.

Additionally, Farage amassed substantial income from various ventures, such as serving as a brand ambassador and engaging in speaking engagements and media activities. The Labour Party criticized Farage for prioritizing personal gain over constituency responsibilities and pledged to enhance regulations on MPs’ secondary jobs to ensure proper representation for the public.
