Surrey Council Provides £300 Supermarket Vouchers

Hundreds of homes may receive complimentary £300 supermarket vouchers to aid with the cost of living. Surrey County Council is distributing these vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund, which aims to assist families in need. Residents of Surrey can apply for the vouchers through the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher program if they are facing difficulties in purchasing food and essential items.

The vouchers can be used at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose. Eligibility for the scheme is open to Surrey residents over 18 years old with household savings not exceeding £2,000 over a 90-day period and an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.

Applicants are required to provide details of their income and household benefits received. Applications for the vouchers are accepted monthly, with the next round opening on February 3. If the current month’s application window is missed, individuals can reapply starting from March 2. Those outside of Surrey are advised to inquire with their local councils for available support options.

In a similar initiative, Nottingham City Council is offering £100 vouchers to individuals with low incomes or on benefits, with distributions ongoing until February 28, 2026. The council will randomly select 10,000 households to receive vouchers, regardless of previous receipt. Wakefield Council is also providing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance.

Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were given £70 vouchers in November, with additional vouchers planned for other households. Families under Council Tax Support will receive £50 vouchers from December 15, while all other qualifying households will receive £70 vouchers between December 3 and December 12.

Blackpool Council is distributing £200 energy assistance to eligible single or two-person households and £300 to qualifying households with three or more individuals. To access this support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and provide recent bank statements for all household members.
