WhatsApp users are in for a significant upgrade as Meta’s chat platform introduces a dedicated app for the Apple Watch. This new development allows users to send messages and respond to friends more conveniently without the need to access their smartphones.
While WhatsApp notifications have been available on the Apple Watch for some time, their functionality has been limited. Previously, users could only view message snippets, but now, with the launch of the dedicated app, they can access full messages, reply with emojis, and even send voice memos directly from their wrist.
The update promises a seamless experience similar to using WhatsApp on other devices like smartphones and tablets. Users can expect features such as call notifications, the ability to read complete messages, send voice messages, react with emojis, view media content clearly, access more chat history, and maintain end-to-end encryption for privacy.
WhatsApp stated in a blog post that this is just the beginning of enhancing the WhatsApp experience on the Apple Watch, with plans to introduce more useful functions in the future. However, it’s important to note that the new WhatsApp Apple Watch app requires an Apple Watch Series 4 or newer running watchOS 10 or later.
Although the app has not yet been released at the time of checking, it is anticipated to become available in the coming days.
