TV enthusiasts are currently fixated on the show “Traitors,” and there are strict guidelines that every participant, whether a Traitor or Faithful, must adhere to, to avoid elimination.
Hosted by former Strictly presenter Claudia Winkleman, the series debuted in 2022 and has captivated audiences with its intricate deception tactics.
Contestants are bound by rigorous rules both on and off-camera, outlined in the contracts they sign, covering their time at Ardross Castle in the Highlands and the period leading up to the show’s airing to prevent any spoilers.
The rules include a ban on time-telling, prohibiting clocks in the castles or players’ rooms, reliance on producers for schedule information, and no access to mobile phones or laptops to prevent external communication.
Interaction between contestants off-camera is restricted, with individuals required to return to their lodgings for the night and seek permission from security guards if they wish to leave. Security measures are tight, even in the celebrity version where stars are accommodated on the same hotel floor.
Participants are kept in the dark about their lodgings’ location, ensuring secrecy and suspense. Traitors must not expose each other’s identities, as part of an oath agreed upon with Claudia at the series’ outset.
Additionally, strict NDAs are signed by contestants to safeguard show secrets until broadcast, with severe consequences for leaks. Before joining the show, potential contestants undergo personality tests to ensure a diverse lineup.
Contestants are not allowed to stay overnight in Ardross Castle, being transported back to their private lodgings after filming to maintain secrecy. Alcohol consumption is limited, with contestants rationed to one or two glasses every few nights.
“Traitors” airs on BBC One and iPlayer, offering viewers a glimpse into the intense world of deception and strategy.
