A trainer overseeing just two horses achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown.
Competing against horses from top Irish stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle fourth-placer Rocky’s Diamond, Connor King outperformed the competition with Oscars Brother under the expert guidance of his brother and jockey, Daniel.
Maintaining a prominent position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impressive jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.
Before the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground at Galway, Oscars Brother had prepared diligently. With only one other horse in their training yard, the duo is hopeful of nurturing a Grade One contender.
Daniel expressed his delight with the victory, emphasizing the horse’s quality and their teamwork. Looking ahead, they aim to continue the horse’s development, with potential consideration for the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period, as suggested by Connor, a former jockey.
