Tiger Woods recently revealed that he will be taking a break from golf following a recent back surgery in October. This surgery marked the seventh procedure Woods has undergone on his back, in addition to previous operations on his Achilles and ankle over the past two years.
Despite winning the Masters in 2019 after an 11-year Major drought, Woods has been hampered by injuries since then and has not been able to compete at his best. While he managed to host his annual Hero World Challenge golf tournament in the Bahamas, he acknowledges that a significant recovery period lies ahead before he can return to competitive play.
Although Woods humorously mentioned playing numerous events in the future, he emphasized the importance of focusing on his recovery before committing to a specific tournament schedule. He recently received clearance to resume chipping and putting after a six-week recovery following his disc replacement surgery.
Looking ahead, Woods aims to break the record for the most PGA tournament wins, currently tied at 82 with golf legend Sam Snead. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, highlighted that one of the key challenges facing Woods in his comeback is simply being able to walk around the golf course comfortably post-surgery.
