Ryan Garcia has expressed skepticism about the anticipated heavyweight bout between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is set to face the former two-time heavyweight champion on December 19 in Miami over eight three-minute rounds, each wearing 10oz gloves. Paul’s last fight was a decision victory against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June, while Joshua has been inactive since suffering a brutal knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Despite meeting at a press conference in Miami, Garcia doubts the fight will happen due to size discrepancies. The clash will be available for streaming on Netflix, included in Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle.
Following Garcia’s doubts, Jake Paul retaliated against the professional boxer’s comments, referencing Garcia’s own recent fights. Paul’s match with Gervonta Davis was canceled, leading to call-outs against various boxers, including Garcia. However, DAZN, the streaming service, did not allow Garcia to switch platforms to fight Paul, citing contractual agreements with Matchroom and a preference for Joshua over Paul.
Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul are scheduled to fight in Miami on December 19, just before Christmas. The fight is expected to air on Netflix, with the ring walk likely around 11pm local time. The event’s timing may change based on the undercard duration, aiming to cater to the American audience.
