Luke Littler has announced that he will not be attending the upcoming BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, despite being nominated. Instead, he predicts that Lando Norris will take home the prestigious accolade. The 18-year-old, nicknamed ‘The Nuke’, is among the contenders for the award, competing against other notable athletes like Rory McIlroy, Chloe Kelly, Hannah Hampton, and Ellie Kildunne. Although Littler is once again in the running after a remarkable year, he is focused on his upcoming match with either Mario Vandenbogaerde or David Davies, scheduled just two days after the awards ceremony on December 18.
While reflecting on the ceremony, Littler stated, “No. I’m not going. I’m not going to it. I think they know. I think obviously the people in the top three on the betting odds will obviously go there and I think Lando will win. I think I’ve only missed out on four majors this year. So if I’d won them, do I win it? Who knows – but good luck to whoever’s going to win it.”
In the days ahead, Littler plans to relax at home, but he will make time to watch Manchester United’s match against Bournemouth on Monday night. A dedicated Red Devils fan, Littler recently attended the team’s game against Wolves at Molineux, where they secured a 4-1 victory. Responding to inquiries about how he obtained tickets, Littler clarified that Adidas had provided him with tickets for the match.
Following his 3-0 victory over Darius Labanauskas at Ally Pally, Littler discussed his performance, mentioning the challenges he faced and expressing satisfaction with the win. Looking ahead, he is gearing up to defend his title at the World Darts Championship, where he will face tough competition from players like Luke Humphries. The championship promises an exciting showdown between the top contenders, offering a thrilling experience for darts fans.
