Lando Norris was quick to find his stylish girlfriend Margarida Corceiro after securing his position as Formula 1 champion. The British driver was seen sharing kisses and embraces with the Portuguese model in the midst of the crowd before heading to the podium to celebrate his victory over Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Only needing to secure third place at the Yas Marina Circuit to clinch the title, Norris maintained his composure despite briefly losing second place to his teammate and rival Piastri. Charles Leclerc posed a late threat, but his Ferrari’s pace diminished, allowing Norris a clear path to the finish line and the championship title. Overwhelmed with emotion, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, thanking them for making his dreams a reality.
Following his victorious race, Norris tearfully embraced his parents and girlfriend, Corceiro. Their relationship, which had been on-and-off for years, was publicly confirmed earlier in the season. Corceiro’s public presence has sparked increased interest in the partners of F1 drivers, especially after a broadcast during the Singapore Grand Prix drew attention to the drivers’ partners, prompting criticism from Carlos Sainz about the focus on WAGs during races.
In response to the attention, Corceiro stated, “I don’t call the cameras. If they record me, they record me. Sometimes I don’t even realize if I’m being recorded.” Reflecting on his victory, Norris expressed his gratitude to McLaren, his family, and his fellow competitors, acknowledging the challenges he faced throughout the season. He credited his team for their support and dedication, emphasizing the significance of bringing success back to McLaren after a nine-year journey with the team.
