A kickboxing world champion and Scotland rugby player engaged in a physical altercation with two bouncers outside a downtown bar. Christianne Fahey, a professional boxer and former Scotland Six Nations player, was reported to have thrown a punch at one bouncer and attempted to headbutt the other, as stated in court. Sheriff William Wood remarked on Fahey’s promising sporting background but highlighted her history of violent offenses.
Addressing Fahey, Sheriff Wood emphasized the need for self-control, citing previous violent incidents that led to imprisonment. While acknowledging the possibility of provocation on the night of the incident, Sheriff Wood stressed that bouncers should not endure such behavior during their duties. Fahey, aged 34, received a non-custodial sentence involving supervision and 100 hours of community service after admitting to assaulting the bouncers in Perth on February 2.
Prosecutor Sarah High detailed the events, indicating that Fahey lashed out when asked to leave the Bank Bar, leading to physical altercations with the bouncers. Following the incident, Fahey was restrained by the bouncers until police intervention. Solicitor Lynsey Barber attributed Fahey’s actions to a combination of intoxication and mental health issues during the incident. Fahey had previously served a 22-month prison sentence in 2019 for assaulting her ex-girlfriend and another individual in Dundee, causing lasting injuries.
