Kate Ferdinand has opened up about the challenges she is encountering since moving her family to Dubai. The reality TV personality and her ex-footballer spouse, Rio Ferdinand, shifted from the UK to Dubai last August with their children, but the transition has not been entirely smooth.
In a candid message to her Instagram followers, Kate, 34, revealed that she is not feeling like herself and described experiencing an “emotional hangover.” She expressed, “I have a December hangover, not from alcohol but an emotional one. I debated whether to share this with you all, but I feel like I’m not being true to myself.”
“I’m feeling out of sorts, lacking motivation for my usual activities, and feeling highly emotional. I don’t have that usual January enthusiasm to kickstart the year,” she added.
Kate reflected on the pressure parents face in December to ensure everything is perfect for their children, juggling the busyness of the holiday season, work commitments, and missing loved ones. She emphasized the emotional toll that reuniting with family, even those with strained relationships, can bring.
Acknowledging the societal expectation for a fresh start in January, Kate admitted that it’s not always realistic and sometimes takes time to adjust. She shared her struggle with feeling fatigued and the pressure to hit the gym, emphasizing that it’s okay not to feel okay.
Choosing honesty over portraying a perfect image, Kate decided to listen to her body and prioritize rest over pushing herself this month. She reassured her followers that it’s okay to feel this way and encouraged them to take care of themselves as well.
Having relocated to Dubai nearly six months ago, Kate and Rio, along with their blended family, left their London lifestyle behind. Their move follows a trend of celebrities seeking the sunny climate, with figures like Naomi Campbell and Luisa Zissman also making the transition. Luisa notably shared the challenges and costs of relocating her horses to her new home.
Overall, Kate’s message serves as a reminder that it’s important to prioritize self-care and listen to one’s body, even amidst societal pressures for a fresh start in the new year.
