Catherine Ommanney, a former romantic interest of Prince Harry, has responded to allegations that she departed a hotel in Majorica without settling her bill, attributing the incident to a “technical error.”
At 53 years old, Ommanney was apprehended for suspected fraud following claims from management at the Playas del Rey Hotel that she had not paid a bill totaling nearly £450 after a nine-day stay, resulting in a €500 (£434) debt. Investigators assert that Ommanney provided a credit card with insufficient funds.
Disputing the accusations of non-payment, Ommanney dismissed the claims as false. She insisted that the bill had been settled in full, citing evidence to support her assertion and stating that the issue was a mistake on the hotel’s part, for which she plans to seek redress through legal channels.
In an interview with the Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described the situation as a “nightmare day,” attributing the incident to a clerical error. She clarified that the bill had been paid via bank transfer as the hotel did not accept credit cards, emphasizing her distress at being detained during her holiday.
Ommanney was seen with a Civil Guard officer leaving her court cell for a closed-door hearing in Palma. It was revealed that she used a previous surname due to a past marriage during her court appearance.
Following her arrest, Ommanney was released on bail pending further investigation. Her lawyer indicated that she had not been informed about the media coverage surrounding her arrest and declined to provide comments without her approval.
When contacted for a statement, a receptionist at the Playas del Rey Hotel stated that there was no available representative to address the press. Ommanney refrained from commenting immediately after her release, and the location of her arrest remains undisclosed.
Ommanney, an interior designer and original cast member of the Real Housewives of DC, previously disclosed a brief relationship with Prince Harry in 2006. Despite her claims, Prince Harry has neither confirmed nor denied the alleged affair.
Reflecting on her past involvement with Prince Harry, Ommanney shared that she believed he valued her maturity and wisdom compared to younger companions. She suggested that Harry sought a more profound connection, which she offered during their brief interaction.
