A tragic incident occurred when a three-year-old child was fatally attacked by his grandmother’s dog after entering the pet’s outdoor enclosure. The toddler, Beckett Brown, was the victim of the American Bulldog at his grandmother’s residence. The grandmother, Kristen Nelson, 51, sustained injuries while trying to stop the dog from harming the child. Both were swiftly taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, Beckett succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials confirmed that the dog involved was euthanized, and there are no ongoing safety concerns for the local community. The investigation revealed that the child had accessed an enclosed area where the adult dog was housed, leading to the tragic event on a Sunday afternoon near New York Mills, New York.
In a separate incident, a 38-year-old mother of three, Barbara Brewington, was fatally attacked after taking in a stray dog that later turned violent towards her own pet. The attack resulted in Barbara sustaining severe injuries and ultimately passing away. Despite the tragic outcome, her pet survived the ordeal, while the aggressive stray dog was euthanized by an animal control team.
Sheriff Jimmy Thornton of Sampson County recounted that deputies found Barbara Brewington outside her residence with serious injuries, and despite efforts to save her, she did not survive. Barbara’s quick actions saved her smaller dog before collapsing herself. Barbara, who was married and a mother of three, worked as a dental assistant at Village Family Dental.
