“Deadly Protests Rock Iran: Over 2,000 Killed”

Officials in Iran have acknowledged that over 2,000 individuals have lost their lives during the ongoing protests in the country. The death toll soared overnight with reports of brutal killings, including street executions, shooting by troops, and beatings with police rifle butts.

State TV reported that Iranian security forces detained armed groups with explosives believed to have ties to Israel in Zahedan. Communication restrictions were lifted briefly today, allowing Iranians to make international calls following a period of communication blackout imposed during the nationwide protests.

Recent revelations by the Daily Mirror revealed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had covertly brought Iraqi militia into Iran to assist in suppressing the protests. Although officials claimed the individuals were linked to Israel, no concrete evidence has been provided to support this assertion.

According to the Daily Mirror, around 1,000 Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Units loyal to the Iranian regime were smuggled into Iran to aid in quelling the unrest, resulting in a death toll that includes over 100 security personnel.

Reports emerged of a young boy named Amir being shot and beaten by police, with witnesses describing a heavy security presence in Tehran, damaged government buildings, and a subdued atmosphere on the streets. Concerns linger among locals about potential future developments, especially following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump hinting at military intervention.

Residents reported a visible police presence at key locations, along with members of the Basij force carrying weapons. Several incidents of arson targeting banks and government offices were observed, disrupting financial transactions due to internet outages. Despite the unrest, some shops remained open under pressure from security forces.

Authorities were reportedly conducting searches for unauthorized satellite dishes, indicating a crackdown on information access. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei commended pro-government demonstrations while issuing warnings against perceived enemies, with state TV airing anti-American and anti-Israeli chants from the crowd.

Dialogue between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff continued amid escalating tensions, with contrasting rhetoric between public statements and private communications. President Trump’s announcement of imposing tariffs on countries trading with Iran further escalated the situation, reflecting his assertive approach to international relations.
