Coronation Street star Beth Nixon, who portrays Megan, recently shared her experience of almost landing a different role on the show. Making her debut on the ITV soap in late 2021, Beth plays the role of an athletics coach for Will Driscoll, a young character who recently relocated to Weatherfield with his family from Hull.
The Driscoll family, including Will’s father Ben, grandmother Maggie, and Ben’s girlfriend Eva Price, are unaware of Megan’s hidden agenda of grooming Will before their arrival. Megan has seamlessly integrated into the community by securing a job at Weatherfield High School and sparking a romantic interest with another teacher, Daniel Osbourne, much to Will’s dismay.
In a recent episode, Daniel invited Megan to his son Bertie’s birthday celebration, showcasing the evolving dynamics within the storyline. Despite Megan’s controversial character arc generating mixed reactions from viewers, Beth Nixon revealed that she had auditioned for different roles on the show before landing the role of Megan.
In an interview, Beth shared her journey to securing the role, recounting moments of doubt and persistence in pursuing an acting career. After a successful chemistry test and an impressive performance on set, Beth was ecstatic to receive the news of her casting, marking a significant milestone in her acting career. This opportunity came at a crucial juncture for Beth, who was considering a shift from acting before landing the role on Coronation Street.
