A Brazilian man known as the real-life Popeye sadly passed away at the age of 55. Arlindo de Souza, famous for his 29-inch biceps, reportedly died from multiple organ failure. He achieved his massive muscles by injecting synthol, a harmful mixture of mineral oil and alcohol that does not enhance muscle strength but only increases size, leading to severe consequences.
Arlindo experienced the tragic effects of synthol when his friend, Pulinho, died from injecting the substance. He warned others against using it, acknowledging the dangers involved. Despite initial usage, Arlindo decided to stop and manage his urge to restart the harmful practice.
In a similar vein, other bodybuilders like Kirill Tereshin, dubbed the Russian Popeye, faced dire consequences after injecting synthol into their bodies. Kirill reportedly risked needing a double amputation due to the damage caused by the substance, with doctors advising skin grafts to save his arm but facing challenges due to poor test results.
Another bodybuilder, Valdir Segato, also succumbed to synthol use at the age of 55 in 2022, passing away from a heart attack. He had admitted to using synthol injections for his extreme aesthetic, which ultimately harmed him. Valdir had gained a significant social media following but tragically lost his life due to the dangerous practice.
These incidents serve as cautionary tales about the risks associated with using synthol for muscle enhancement, highlighting the severe consequences that can result from such practices.
