Apple’s AirTag is a must-have for those who frequently misplace their belongings. Launched in 2021, these small trackers have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. AirTags are compact and versatile, easily attachable to keys, bags, laptop cases, or luggage.
The latest AirTag iteration boasts an enhanced Ultra Wideband chip, offering an extended range for improved Precision Finding. This upgrade increases locating accuracy by up to 50%, enabling users to find lost items from greater distances. Additionally, Precision Finding is now compatible with select Apple Watch models, allowing users to track down misplaced items directly from their wrist.
Apple has also enhanced the new AirTag’s audio capabilities with a redesigned internal speaker, producing sounds that are 50% louder than the previous version. This feature is beneficial for locating the AirTag in hard-to-reach places like under furniture or amidst clutter.
Utilizing Apple’s extensive Find My network, AirTags leverage nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously to the owner. Emphasizing privacy, Apple ensures that AirTags do not store location history on the device and all communications with the Find My network are encrypted end-to-end, safeguarding the owner’s location information.
Furthermore, the new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature that allows users to securely share an item’s location with trusted third parties, such as airlines, to aid in the recovery of lost belongings. Apple has partnered with over 50 airlines to support this functionality.
The latest AirTag is now available for purchase on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original pricing.
