Amazon has announced the launch of its Alexa+ platform in the UK, bringing advanced features to Echo smart speaker owners for free. Alexa+ enhances the conversational experience with the voice assistant, learning user preferences and adjusting its tone based on interactions. This upgrade enables personalized recommendations for films, recipes, and sports updates tailored to individual tastes.
The new features include building shopping lists, tracking prices, sending delivery alerts, and product comparisons through online reviews. Users can control smart home devices seamlessly by giving voice commands to Alexa+, such as adjusting lights and setting custom Routines without using the Alexa app.
Moreover, Alexa+ simplifies managing whole-home speaker setups, allowing users to move music around different areas by voice commands. The update ensures Alexa understands British users effectively, reflecting cultural nuances and regional expressions in its communication style.
Amazon emphasizes privacy and security, providing a Privacy dashboard for users to review and manage their interactions with Alexa+. Early Access to Alexa+ is being offered for free initially, with a subsequent monthly subscription fee of £19.99 after the Early Access period. Prime members will continue to have free access to Alexa+. Amazon plans to invite hundreds of thousands of customers in the UK to try out Alexa+ in the coming weeks.
